Spanish LevelsWe provide high quality Spanish language courses for students of all ages and levels. The exact level of each student will be determined and the student will be placed in a class that suit him or her best. The classes have various levels from Beginner to Advanced.
Basic CourseStudents who enter the Spanish programme at this level need not have any previous language qualifications. The course is mainly aimed at non-native speaking students. It is designed to teach the basic elements of written and spoken Spanish.
IntermediateStudents who enter the Spanish programme at this level will have a reasonable knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and modest ability to read and write in Spanish. The aim of the Intermediate level course is for students to start developing the skills required to tackle a range of reading texts, and to practice basic planning and organisation of written Spanish. Course books are used but lessons are also supplemented with authentic materials.
Upper-IntermediateStudents who enter the Spanish programme at this level will have a solid knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and an ability to read and write a variety of text types in Spanish. The aim of the course is to encourage students to become more independent learners, by raising their awareness of learning techniques, and to develop listening and speaking skills.
HigherStudents who enter the Spanish programme at this level will have a very good knowledge of grammar and vocabulary and an ability to tackle both general and academic text types in Spanish. Students at this level will show an ability to distinguish between different styles of Spanish, both written and spoken. This level is focus in academic study skills, such as referencing, which they will use in their undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
